12: Lacking On Bunny, Boosting On Eggs

Easter is just around the corner little chicks!
Who still does the egg painting and scavenger hunt fun times? Nooming on chocolates? catching the easter bunny? I do (in my easter-rainbow-fantasy-island). I love the celebration of easter, it's so childlike and colorful. With this ocassion I made a special design for the 2013 easter.

so this is it:

CHICKY EASTER

If I have a Mr. Chicken running around my house, I would love him to look like this but he would have a crazy sense of humor!
ain't he cute?

08: Flying Hearts!

HAPPY  SHARING CHOCOLATE & FREE HUGS DAY!

I think just for the fun of it, I like to have this post with a soundtrack.

Faith Hill - This Kiss

Which coincidentally also the ost of Practical Magic. Did anyone watched that movie back in the day? I loveee it! still do. There's magic, romance and sacrifices; just a great combo for a quirky love story! I also like Sabrina the teenage witch and The Craft... what does it say about me? (secretly I'm a witch too)

07: Ling-Ling Goes Celebrating!!

means...

Lunar New Year is just around the corner! you know what that means?..... open houses!!

Since I can remember during CNY (Chinese New Year) me and my family would go do rounds of open houses to family's and relative's house. Big feast and dressing up, also the tradition of giving out the red envelopes (in Hokkien would known as âng-pau ). They have the tradition of giving out the red envelopes filled with money to unmarried juniors/kids in general (those who are married/parents who usually gives these out). Now it gets embarrassing to receive one of these, because my age is NO young NO more.

04: Fiore Nail

So,
Was anyone satisfied with all the result from the CCA this year?

Ben Affleck in Argo

Personally I’m happy that Argo so many awards, well deserved.

And there are some ladies that caught my attention because of their lovely do, head to toe.

First we have Helen Hunt in tangerine. She is amazing with Philip Armstrong dress. It gives the curves & her sexiness without giving much away. And age appropriate.

Here we have the lovely Marion Cotillard. I love her works (Midnight in Paris, Inception, Love Me If You Dare, A Good Year) and she played her characters so beautiful and almost always so fairytale-ish. She wore Zuhair Murad Couture and may I say, it is perfect for her. (I just don’t like the shoes though)

Of course Anne Hathaway can’t do no wrong, plus she wore Oscar de la Renta amazing simple sparkly piece. No need an extra spruce of big design or big rocks, this is a proven look of, simple is better. I love love love!

And lastly, my current favorite actress, the bubbly and adorable Elle Fanning. It might not the best dress in CCA, but I think it is appropriate for her, and suits her. She is just 15 (this year) years old, she still have time to try on some weird looks and nonsense heels.

Sooo, after being mesmerized by Marion & Elle my next tutorial I’m making a floral nail art. Excuse me for not being able to do a real deal, by photo/video; I don’t have the time yet to do so. Hopefully by next month I can do it regularly for you guys.

So here it goes, my tutorial on…

FIORE NAIL
STEP ONE
use a light color for your base. Here I preferably using  MAC Light Affair Nail Lacquer, because it looks simple and not far from the usual natural nail plate color. Though I suggest whatever color that is remotely close to ur natural skin color. Just think it as the perfect canvas.
STEP TWO
I chose Orly’s Orange Punch to make the flower petals by using a square brush. Just make brave petals-like strokes, almost braving yourself making small rounds mess. Explore which ways you do best.

STEP THREE
With OPI’s Banana Bandanna and using a narrow tip brush make smooth strokes around the previous orange petals to enhance the flower form that you’re trying to make.
STEP FOUR
For making the leaves, I chose butter LONDON’s Neon Lime Green Nail Polish. I still want to make it more like a soft feel and pastel look. Stroke lightly with a narrow brush draw a leave-like form.
STEP FIVE
Don’t forget to always put on a topcoat so it will give the finish look and smoothen the polishes that you put on. Technically I’m not even using a topcoat, but I like this product the best, Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails, for a top coat as well. It’s does not give that thick-look, dries pretty quick.

EXTRA TIPS
ONE
clean your brushes with acetone/any nail polish remover after using
TWO
when the brushes (is) gets hard that means there's some of the nail polish left by
THREE
wash the brush after cleaning (with acetone/any nail polish remover) with water

have fun trying this!

02: I do!

Hi guys,

I just want to share one of my work recently. One of my best friend's sister just got married recently (15 Dec 2012). Before I get to the nail detail thing, lemmie just say, they are probably the most perfect couple that I've come accross to in my life. Not just personality wise but also their voice synced! for the wedding souveniers they made a christmas album of them both. if I get the chance to share it one day, I will. and at the end of their holy matrimony, they sang together and it was like angels singing. *sigh* okay, enough with the wedding details.

back to the nail thing.

For her reception night, I made her nails with  simple colors and a bit of spark,
it is her big day and she needs the extra glow.

I asked what her dress would be like and in what color. Because her favorite color is purple, of course, her wedding dress is in purple. She wears a traditional wedding dress from Ambon, and it was quite festive. Of course there's also some beads and other stones thrown all around. I suggested for her nails to be more toned down but still give some of that eye catching spark.

I chose the color that is a mixed of grey & purple. Firstly I use Sally Hansen's Nail Hardener.I love it so much, not because it kinda gives you more protection from discoloration by the colored nail polishes, also it gives more strength to your bones (aka nails). For the base color I go from Revlon's Top Speed collection #710 cloud (of course, double).

Because the bride (suddenly) wants to take a quick shower before doing the make up, I gave her Mavala's Mavadry just to make it dry faster. It did an amazing work. yes 2 nails got ruined (because of all the showering), but only 2! I got this from a producer from work that I did previously (this project would be on another post), and I become addicted to it. MUST TRY/HAVE!

for the french tip-like first I used OPI's Up Front & Personal (NL B33) because I like the concentration of the sparkle and how small it is. It also reminds me of a pixie dust of Tinkerbell in Peter Pan. And then I top it again with Topshop's Ice Crush. It also reminds me of the typical fairy dust would be like. I think it's appropriate to have a bit of magic on every tip of your nails.

For each ring fingers on each hands, I gave a small stone. Just to enhance to moment. Its as if you have rings on your nails.

As for the finishing I used Orly's Top2Bottom for a top coat, let it dry. As it sets to quite dry, I put finishing oil around the nail, so the skin wouldn't get dry. This finishing oil also my (i think) best buy ever. I got it when I was in Japan. nothing fancy, and I think it wasn't that expensive (but I forgot how much). I got it in a big department store in Ginza.

So yeah, that is how and with what I made the look for Dea's special day. I hope she enjoyed it as much I was making it. That is only I can give for her (for now) as a wedding gift. I also did her mother's & little sister's nails. It was just a simple 1 tone look for each(red maroon & light pink).

Until the next post.
